W.S. Ferguson. 20th October 2007
I found the eta Personal Trainers course a great introduction into the professional approach to Personal Training and have subsequently discovered it to be highly rated and recognised by the Health industry in the United Kingdom.
Qualifying for the eta Diploma opened my eyes to what I’d initially believed would be a simple study, due to a confidence built on years of self-training in gymnasiums and health studios, to comprehending how little I really knew about the human body, its workings and how to condition it properly.
Rehabilitating myself from paraplegia caused through an accident, I have come to realise that the conditioning we do in striving for physical health and a better looking body actually disguises the real benefit of training for health. The real benefit is in just how much training strengthens our minds so that we are able to cope when faced with any adversity. Told I’d never walk again I refused to accept the Specialists reality as I had my own. Today I walk, cycle and train clients because training had strengthened my mind.
I am very grateful to the eta course for giving me such a deep understanding of my body’s workings that I was able to devise, with assistance from my Rehab physiotherapist, my path back from adversity. And that I am now able to pass that onto so many others and improve their health and lives.
Best regards,
W.S. Ferguson.
Craig Charity 2003 eta Graduate
After studying with eta in 2003 I worked in a variety of gyms both corporate and private.
In the beginning of 2006 I purchased some equipment and started training my clients in their homes.
It is a different form of training all together and has forced me to think out of the box but has caught on very nicely and I see between 6 and 7 clients a day.

Studying through eta was a great way to be introduced to the professional side of Sport. Not just by me becoming a professional sports coach but by the professional way that our instructors and lectures carried out there classes at eta.
Always interesting and informative.
I have carried all that I have learnt at eta through to my current position as a children’s sports development coach in London, England.
Where the company I work with now is a sports development programme and an educational programme. We concentrate on Sporting achievement and physical skills as well as general competency and life skills through sport.
It is really rewarding working outdoors in England, in a sporting environment and introducing children to sport in a fun and exiting way.
Many thanks to the management and staff at eta!

During the last few weeks of my matric year I made the decision to study the Advanced Sports Management Course offered by eta, this proved to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.
My first year was an exciting time in which I was continuously challenged. eta facilitators were always on the ball and formed a bond with each and every student creating a secure and friendly environment. They encouraged us to work and play hard and set goals which they gave us the confidence to chase.
As in all courses offered by eta, it is part of the criteria that each student gains experience in their field of choice. During my second year I began working for Right on the Night, the organizers of the two largest Road Cycling Races in KZN (Tour Durban and The Amashovashova). Working on these events changed the course of my life, it gave me the opportunity to network and meet many people in the industry. I found myself moving from event to event learning constantly and traveling around SA. I was involved in the Duzi, Argus, Comrades Marathon and many more, dealing with the media, the races themselves, expos and the athletes. By the time I graduated from eta with my diploma I was well on my way to reaching those goals which my lecturer, Janice Paddey, had insisted I set.
My first 6 months after graduating from eta I worked for eta and continued to learn from the amazing people there. I was then offered a job at USN (Ultimate Sport Nutrition), and that is where I find myself today. I am the Marketing Manager for the KZN region. I managing the promotions in both the supplement and FMCG side of the company, I am involved in all sponsorship negotiations for events and sponsored athletes. My job is to manage all the events that we are involved in on a sponsorship level. My main focus is exactly what I found my passion to be… events and people.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank eta for their constant support throughout my studies and all they still do for me today. You are all wonderful people.
