Q: Is there a period limit by when the course should be completed?
A: Yes, a certificate should be completed within one year from date of enrolment. For example, if you register for a certificate on 1st May, 2010, you have until 20 May 2011 to complete. Diplomas take two years from the date of enrolment.
Q: Do I need to attend any classes for Distance Learning?
A: No, everything is done from a distance. It is however to implement your own training on a regular basis and keep a log of this. You will also need to complete specific experiential learning hours in the field which is a vital part of your practical learning.
Q: Where and how are the assessments done or examinations held?
A: As we are outcomes based, most of the work is assignment and project based. Tests and question papers are another part of assessment. It is important that you have access to a computer and the internet to receive these.
Q: Do you have any payment plans for distance learning fees?
A: eta does not have payment plans but student loans are available through most banks. If you cannot afford to pay up front or cannot access a student loan, you can consider paying in four quarters. You pay a deposit and three more payments. This quarterly payment system works out more in total.
Q: Are eta courses recognized internationally?
A: eta qualifications are benchmarked against international best practice and eta graduates are able to work anywhere in the world. eta is accredited by CYQ in the UK. This is the accrediting body for qualifications s in the United Kingdom.
Q: Is there a time limit with on line tests and exams?
A: Our exams have a “read receipt system for the question papers and as soon as the email is read by you, the 12-hour time limit begins. You need to ensure that when you request the question paper, that you can access your email and download the paper in time
Q: Do you have previous exam papers that I may study from, so that I know more or less what to expect?
A: Students do not have access to previous papers but very clear guidelines are provided in the eta Assessment Guide.
Q: If I am required to produce video recording for assessment, would digital recordings on CD or DVD be acceptable?
A: You can present your demonstrations on Video, CD or DVD. Then send them well protected, clearly indicating your name and address to the following address

Q: How soon do I receive feedback once I’ve sent in assignments to be marked?
A: Marking and returning of assignments does not take more than two weeks.
Q: Where can I get a testing kit from and how much does it cost?
A: testing kits can be ordered from Emergency management Training (EMT), contact number 021 701 6901. Please mention that you are an eta Distance Learning student. The approximate price is R400 (for a blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, and skinfold caliper).
Q: Do I have to log practical hours for every module?
A: Practical field work and experiential earning must be logged on your practical field work sheets. These can be found in your Portfolio of Evidence that you are provided with once you enroll and pay your fees.
Q: If I have not studied for a while, will I be able to cope with the volume and intensity of the course.

Q: Do I need to complete a First aid and CPR course?
A: All students must have completed and achieved their certificate for the Level 1 by the time they qualify with eta. This is a requirement of the eta programme and for employers.
